32-Hour Online Teen Driver Course (DE-964)
Before applying for a learner’s permit, students must complete this state-certified online class. The training is fully web-based, so teens can study whenever and wherever it works best.
- Enrollment is open starting at age 14.
- After the first 6 hours of coursework, students can take the built-in exam to qualify for their learner’s permit.
- The test may be attempted multiple times if needed.
When the course exam is passed, a Learner’s Certificate is issued. The student, along with a parent or guardian, must then visit the DPS to officially receive their permit.
Documents to bring to the DPS for the permit application:
- Birth certificate, valid U.S. passport, or green card
- Social Security card
- Two proofs of Texas residency (such as utility bill or lease)
- School enrollment verification (or a report card during summer)
7 Hours of Behind-the-Wheel Training
State law requires teens to complete 37 total hours of driving practice to earn a license. This package includes 27 hours of professional instruction with a certified driving teacher. The other 10 hours must be completed with a parent or guardian.
- Driving lessons are available 7 days per week.
- Students can book times that fit their schedule through our online calendar.
- Instruction is given by experienced, state-approved instructors.
Reminder: Teens must already hold a learner’s permit before beginning behind-the-wheel lessons.
Onsite Texas DPS Road Test
To make the licensing process easier, the official state road test is included in this package and is administered right at our school.
Eligibility to take the road test requires:
- Having a learner’s permit for at least 6 months
- Completion of the full 37 hours of behind-the-wheel training
- A certificate from the Impact Texas Teen Driver (IMPACT) program
