How long does a teenager need to have a learner’s permit before applying for a provisional license?

A teenager must hold a learner’s permit for at least six months and be at least 16 years old before they can take the road test for a provisional license.

At what age is a person considered an adult when applying for a driver’s license in Texas?

Anyone 18 years or older is considered an adult for driver’s license applications.

What does an adult need to do to get a learner’s permit in Texas?

Adults aged 18-24 must complete a 6-hour online driving course and pass the test. They then need to visit DPS with their course certificate to obtain a learner’s permit.

What are the requirements for an adult to get a driver’s license in Texas?

Adults 18-24 must take a 6-hour online course before obtaining a permit. Those 25 or older can skip the course but must pass a written test at DPS if they don’t take it. After getting the permit, adults can practice driving with a licensed adult before taking the DPS road test to get a driver’s license.
