This course is intended for students ages 14–17 who are just starting the licensing process. Fully approved by the TDLR, it provides all the required training and testing for new drivers in Texas.
32-Hour Online Teen Driver Education (DE-964)
The first step to earning a learner’s permit is completing this state-approved online class. Students can log in from home and progress through the material at their own speed.
- Teens may enroll at age 14.
- After the initial 6 hours, they can attempt the built-in multiple-choice exam to qualify for a permit.
- If the test isn’t passed on the first try, it can be repeated until successful.
Once students pass the exam and receive the Learner’s Certificate, they must visit a DPS office with a parent or guardian to receive their learner’s permit.
Required documents for the DPS appointment:
- Birth certificate, U.S. passport, or permanent resident card
- Social Security card
- Two official proofs of Texas residency
- Verification of school enrollment (or a report card during summer months)
7 Hours of Professional Driving Instruction
Texas law requires every teen driver to complete 37 hours of supervised driving practice before becoming eligible for a license. This package provides 13 hours with a licensed instructor, while the remaining 24 hours can be finished with a parent or guardian.
- Lessons are available every day of the week.
- Students schedule their own sessions through the online booking system.
- All instruction is provided by TDLR-certified trainers.
Note: Driving lessons cannot begin until the teen has a valid learner’s permit.
DPS Road TEST Offered Onsite
The package also includes the official DPS road test, administered directly at our school for convenience.
To qualify for the test, students must:
- Hold a learner’s permit for at least six months
- Complete the full 37 hours of behind-the-wheel practice
- Provide proof of completing the IMPACT Texas Teen Driver course
