How the Process Works:

  • Take and pass your road test at My First Drive.
  • We review and securely submits your documents electronically to DPS on your behalf.
  • DPS takes 3-4 business days to review your documents and approve your license.
  • Once approved, you upgrade the permit to a license on TxT portal here: https://txt.texas.gov/
  • Immediately upon upgrade, you receive a pdf in email, followed by the hard-copy in 2-3 weeks.

Note:

  • You can keep track of your submission status by logging on TxT portal here:  https://txt.texas.gov/
  • An $11 fee is required to upgrade the permit to a license regardless of whether you do it online or in person.
