PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Teen Online Driver Education Course at My First Drive Driving School is designed for teens who want to complete the classroom portion of their Texas driver education requirements independently online. This option allows students to complete their coursework from home while working through the required material at their own pace.
This package includes the online driver education course and the Texas Driver Education Certificate (DE-964). Behind-the-wheel driving lessons are not included and must be purchased separately.
24-HOUR ONLINE TEEN DRIVER EDUCATION COURSE
The online course provides teens with the foundational knowledge needed to become safe and responsible drivers. Students will learn about Texas traffic laws, road signs and signals, defensive driving, right-of-way rules, safe driving practices, and responsible decision-making.
Students must complete the first 6 hours of the course to receive the certificate needed to apply for their Texas learner license. The remaining required course hours must be completed before the student is eligible to take the DPS road test.
The flexible online format allows students to complete the classroom portion from home without attending scheduled in-person classes.
BEHIND-THE-WHEEL REQUIREMENT
The driving lessons are not included in this package. Students who purchase this course-only option must separately purchase and complete the required 7 hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction with a qualified driving instructor.
The 7 hours of driving instruction are required as part of the teen driver education process and must be completed in accordance with applicable Texas requirements. Students who need the online course and driving lessons together should select one of our Complete teen driving packages that includes both services.
TEXAS DRIVER EDUCATION CERTIFICATE (DE-964)
Students will receive two separate Texas Driver Education Certificates (DE-964) as they complete the required sections of the course.
The first certificate is issued after completing the initial 6-hour portion and is used as part of the process for obtaining a Texas learner license. The second certificate is issued after completing the remaining required coursework and is used for the student’s eligibility to proceed with the DPS road test.
IMPORTANT: Purchasing this course does not include behind-the-wheel driving lessons, observation hours, or the DPS road test. These services must be purchased separately unless included in another package.
Students must also meet all applicable Texas DPS requirements and complete the remaining steps necessary to obtain their learner’s permit and driver license
