PROGRAM SUMMARY
At My First Drive Driving School, teens can complete their Texas DPS Road Test in a simple and stress-free setting. This service is created specifically for 16- and 17-year-olds who are ready to move from a learner’s permit to their first driver’s license.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify, applicants must be between the ages of 16–17 and hold a current Texas learner permit. They also need to have completed the 32-hour state-approved classroom course, the Impact Texas Teen Driver (ITTD) video, thirty-seven (37) hours of behind-the-wheel driving practice, plus seven (7) hours of observation.
Documents Needed for the Teen Road Test:
- Texas Learner’s Permit (must be valid)
- Certificate of Completion for 32-Hour Driver Education (DE-964)
- Impact Texas Teen Driver (ITTD) Completion Certificate
- 30-Hour Behind-the-Wheel Practice Log
- Minor’s Texas Driver License Application
- 14-Hour Driving & Observation Log
- Record of Classroom Instruction Hours

NOTE: Texas law requires all documents to be physically hand-signed.
The package also includes electronic submission of test results and all required documents to DPS eliminating the need for the parent and teen to visit the DPS after passing the DPS road test. Once the documents are submitted to DPS, DPS may take 3 to 4 days to review the submitted documents. Once approved, the teen will need to https://txt.texas.gov in order to upgrade the permit to a provisional license. After that teen teen will receive a temporary license (.pdf) in email followed by a hard license in 2 to 3 weeks.
